Dr. Homa Hoodfar was released on 26 September from an Iranian prison after more than three and a half months of detention on arbitrary charges with extremely limited access to her family or lawyer. She was arrested for her research on women’s rights and human rights work. Amnesty International considered Dr. Hoodfar to have been a prisoner of conscience. She was imprisoned in solitary confinement in Tehran’s Evin Prison.

Grave concerns were raised about her health and lack of access to adequate medical care. We await further information from Dr. Hoodfar’s family, serious concerns remain about the impact that months of arbitrary detention in solitary confinement has had on her health. She is currently recovering from her ordeal in Oman, and will return home once her health permits.

Her family and friends are grateful to everyone who has supported her over the last few months.

Thank you to everyone who took action for Dr. Homa Hoodfar.
