Amnesty International Ireland's END FGM- European Campaign
END FGM, a European campaign led by Amnesty International Ireland, aims to echo the voices of women who have undergone FGM and those at risk. Working with partner organisations in numerous EU member states, the campaign seeks the adoption of a definitive strategy to end FGM in Europe and to provide protection to women and girls who flee their countries for fear of being mutilated.

Amnesty International Ireland' campaign to end FGM in Ireland
Amnesty International Ireland sits on Ireland’s National Steering Committee to address Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), which on 25 November 2008, launched a National Action Plan (NAP) on FGM, as part of a pan-European project funded by the Daphne Foundation involving 15 European states and their civil societies, addressing the challenges involved in dealing with the health, legal and psychological consequences of FGM in Europe.

Amnesty International has intervened in the case of Ms Pamela Izevbekhai and her daughters, Naomi and Jemima. They are seeking to remain in Ireland, as Ms Izevbekhai fears if returned to Nigeria her daughters would be forced to undergo FGM. The case is currently before the European Court of Human Rights.
