Staff Pay and Benefits

In line with a motion passed at Annual Conference 2012, Amnesty International Ireland publishes Information on salary bands and general employment benefits which staff are entitled to on an annual basis.

For staff who are part time, the salary reported is the full time equivalent.

Details of staff salary bands are published on our website. As of January 2022, the office based salary bands were:

€28,000 – €35,000 – 8 posts

€35,001 – €40,000 – 12 posts

€40,001 – €55,000 – 8 posts

€55,001 – €65,000 – 5 posts

€65,001 – €75,000 – No staff members at this band

€123,599 – 1 post (Executive Director)

The following are the general employment benefits of office staff as of March 2013:

  • 20 days of annual leave plus 5 office closure days
  • After 5 years of service, or if on top of salary scale, staff receive an additional day of annual leave each year, up to a maximum of 10 additional days
  • All staff progress annually by one increment within their salary scale, up to a maximum of 9 increments
  • Contributory pension (staff contribution 5%, organisation’s contribution 6%)
  • In line with the organisation’s flexible benefits policy, staff who choose not to avail of pension have the option of availing of a range of other pre-agreed benefits up to the annual value of €1,500 (e.g. health insurance, dental insurance, extra annual leave, travel ticket)
  • Income protection
  • Death in service (4 times annual salary)
  • Paid sick leave: 13 weeks full pay less state benefits, 13 weeks half pay less state benefits
  • Maternity leave pay: 13 weeks full pay less state benefits, 13 weeks half pay less state benefits
  • 10 days of paid paternity leave
  • Employee Assistance Programme, which provides employees with access to confidential advice and counselling service
