Apply to join Queer Amnesty.
We are starting a new activist group to take action on international LGBTI rights.
LGBTI rights are human rights. Amnesty International is committed to standing up to discrimination against LGBTI people around the world. Through our work (research, campaigning, advocacy and activism), we resist discrimination and fight to advance LGBTI human rights.
Whilst there has been positive changes across the world, LBGTI people still face increased discrimination, threats and violence. From the crackdown on LGBTI ‘ideology’ in Poland to discrimination in Russia and Pride marches being threatened all over the world. In Ireland, we have a committed generation of LGTBI activists, emboldened and galvanized by unprecedented human rights wins in Ireland in the last five short years and we want to harvest that wisdom and harness that enthusiasm to take action internationally.
As part of this group you will:
• Gain a deeper understanding of Amnesty International’s work
• Receive 6 evenings of training (incl. but not limited to human rights, current international LGBTI issues, activism, lobbying, event and action planning, activism and self-care)
• Meet other LGBTI activists and like-minded people
• Design and create LGBTI actions and events and actions
