On 11 May, hundreds of university students showed bravery. They defied the blanket ban on LGBTI events in Ankara and went ahead with their peaceful Pride march. Now it is time for Ankara authorities to lift the ongoing ban in the city.

The university students in Ankara sent a significant message to authorities and all LGBTI rights supporters in the country.

A student from the LGBTI student group said:
“The reason we could resist the ban and move forward was the international support and solidarity by activists around the world. We could not have gone further without their support.”

Our support continues. The ongoing unlawful ban in the city must end. Stand with the LGBTI people in Turkey and email Ankara governor demanding that the ban should be lifted and all LGBTI events must be allowed.

Show your solidarity, stand with LGBTI people in Ankara and help them continue celebrating love!
