Sudan: ‘Uninvestigated, Unpunished’: Human rights violations against Darfuri students in Sudan

The government unleashed anti-riot police fully equipped with tanks on Darfur students’ Association at the Omdurman Islamic University who had staged a sit-in today, demanding an exemption from the payment of tuition.

Darfuri students in Sudan are being attacked and targeted in universities across the country by the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), the police and students affiliated with the ruling National Congress Party. Darfuri students are regularly prevented, violently, from expressing their opinion about the conflict and humanitarian situation in Darfur, other political matters or for protesting against the lack of implementation of a fee exemption University policy for Darfuri.
