TASTE FOR FREEDOM

 

Host your own Taste for Freedom event and raise vital funds to help Amnesty International free Prisoners of Conscience around the world.

Whether at home, at work or in school, simply invite family, friends or colleagues along and let your tasty food or beverages raise the funds for you.

Think big or small, a gourmet meal or a pizza party! The choice is yours and every euro will make a difference.

We are delighted to have the support of leading Irish chef Dylan McGrath. Dylan was joined by a number of celebrities last year to officially launch the first ever Taste for Freedom event at his Dublin restaurant The Rustic Stone.

“I am delighted and honoured to be working with Amnesty International on this,” said award-winning Chef Dylan McGrath. “Getting together with friends and family over food is something everyone enjoys. We’re sharing our stories and spending quality time together with people we care about. Taste for Freedom is about doing this in a way that supports those people who are cut off from their loved ones, held in brutal and appalling conditions, simply for standing up for their basic human rights.”

Guest of Honour.

Acknowledge someone’s birthday, personal achievements, contribution to your community, or to human rights by making them your Guest of Honour. It could also be a local personality your guests would enjoy meeting and chatting with.

Entertainment.

If you know any local musicians or comedians why not ask them to drop by for fifteen minutes to entertain your guests. This will really make your event memorable!

Raising Funds

Depending on what activity you organize you can either:

  • Charge a reasonable amount for attendance or entry
  • Charge individual prices for cakes, coffee or your meal
  • Give out donation envelopes

Then simply send a cheque or bank draft along with the donation record sheet to Amnesty International in the envelope provided.

Do remember to charge a reasonable amount for the tasty treats you offer. Work out in advance what it will cost you and make sure you get a good return for your efforts.
