Allegations of abuse dismissed in Guadalajara: reluctance to investigate human rights violations perpetuates impunity

In connection with the violent events that took place in Guadalajara in May 2004; the manner in which many of these detentions were conducted, the way in which the prisoners were treated, the allegations of torture and ill treatment and failure to carry out an independent investigation are all violations of fundamental rights which raise doubts about the criminal proceedings at which the accused were tried.
