Protect human rights in Afghanistan

Since the fall of the Taleban in 2001 there has been some progress in respect for human rights, particularly women’s rights.

But these gains could be compromised if deals are struck between the Afghan Government and the Taleban as part of peace talks.

Areas under Taleban control have a terrible record for human rights abuses. We need to ensure human rights are not traded away during negotiations and that women are involved in the talks to ensure their gains are protected.
