We campaign for Ireland to ratify all core UN and Council of Europe human rights treaties, including:

  • UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
  • International Convention for the Protection of all Persons from Enforced Disappearances

We campaign for the Irish government to implement its obligations under human rights treaties that have already been ratified, including:

  •   Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (ratified 13 July 2010)

We defend the right to the fair and effective administration of justice, lobby against the introduction of criminal justice measures that seriously erode human rights, and promote human rights compliance in policing by An Garda Síochána.

We lobby for effective state regulation of the export and brokering of arms and components from Ireland, and for the adoption of an international Arms Trade Treaty to address the poorly regulated global trade in conventional arms and ammunition.

We promote and defend the right of people living in Ireland to be free from discrimination, in law and in practice.

We defend the right of children to be free from violence, and lobby for children’s rights as set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child to be enshrined in Ireland’s Constitution.

We defend the right to demand state protection from persecution, and lobby for a fair and efficient asylum system in Ireland.
